Simple pricing: pay as you go, or a plan with up to 25% more
You pay in US dollars, per token. Add funds from $10, or pick a monthly plan that gives you 10% to 25% more usage than you pay. A bigger plan gets a bigger bonus. There is no access review.
One set of prices
Pay as you go and plans use the same per-token prices:
| Tokens | Price per 1M tokens |
|---|---|
| Input | $0.28 |
| Cached input | $0.07 |
| Output, including reasoning | $1.00 |
For example, 100M input tokens with half of them cached, plus 10M output tokens, cost $27.50. The calculator on the API page does this for your numbers.
Pay as you go
Add funds from $10 to $1000 by card or crypto. The money becomes your balance in US dollars, 1:1. Your balance does not expire while your account is open, also after you cancel a plan. You do not need a plan to use the CLI or the API.
Plans: 10% to 25% more usage
A plan gives monthly plan credit worth more than its price. A bigger plan gets a bigger bonus:
| Plan | Per month | Plan credit | Bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $20 | $22 | +10% |
| Pro | $100 | $115 | +15% |
| Max | $200 | $240 | +20% |
| Ultra | $500 | $625 | +25% |
Unused plan credit expires at renewal. 1 plan = 1 person. Plans are billed monthly by card. An upgrade charges the prorated difference at once. A downgrade starts at renewal. You can cancel at any time, and the plan stays active until the end of the paid month.
Plan credit first, then balance
Requests use plan credit first, then your balance. Available is the plan credit that is left plus your balance. The setting Use balance after plan credit is on by default. Turn it off in Billing if you want requests to stop when plan credit is used up. From the terminal:
excession whoami # plan credit, balance and available
excession billing --use-balance off # stop when plan credit is used up
You see each charge
- Usage in the console lists each request, its cost, and whether plan credit or balance paid.
- Non-streaming API responses carry an
X-Cost-Usdheader. - The console and the CLI warn you at 80% and 95% of plan credit, and when funds are low. A low-funds email goes out below a limit you set (default $5).
- When funds are too low, the API returns HTTP 402 with the numbers. It never returns 429 for money.
Invite a friend
Share your referral link from the console. The person you invite gets 10% extra on their first payment, added to their balance. When that payment clears, you get $10 to $50 on your balance, depending on what they bought. The docs have the full rules.
